"We At War (feat. Tha Dawn & B-shad)" has a consistent building low end and clapping snare that combine to make for a truly bangin' beat, over which we hear an easy flowing Rap rhyme. "Put'em Up (feat. Willie James)" is a raucous number with intense lyrics along with a consistent escalating sound to the beat. "Southwest (feat. B-shad)" is more of a fun number with a bouncing, southern-style, beat to it. This is an album for those who appreciate consistently spirited Hip-Hop/Rap beats and relatively fierce lyrics. "Stone Biscuit" by Jubal Kane (Blues Artist from North Carolina(NC))

The latest release from Jubal Kane is "Stone Biscuit" and is a double album with the first disc being a collection of raw live recordings of the band playing their brand of thick and hearty Blues/Rock, and the second disc contains cover songs as well as a couple of bonus recordings. "Heavy Load" is a high tempo blues song with a great shuffling sound to it, in which we hear how the harmonica can really rock out. "Long Road" is a slower paced number with a hefty Blues groove to it. In the song "Tight" we might have the best use of the Blues harmonica as a leading instrument, as it interplays with the vocalist with a gritty and wide sound. This is an album filled with a plethora of passionate live Blues/Rock songs, with a heavy emphasis on the soulful harmonica. If you are a fan of Blues Traveler then you would really enjoy the compositions on "Stone Biscuit" by Jubal Kane.

Whereas Michael Arrington's outstanding debut CD was a straight-up country effort showcasing the refined singer's well-crafted songs and the classic guitar-piano-steel accessories of the album's country roots, on "Michael Arrington, Vocal & Saxaphone" Arrington and his crack Nashville sidemen deliver a more diverse collection of mainly traditional songs that more than ably cover the rest of Nashville's grand legacy. With Arrington stepping back from the mic to concentrate on his ample sax talents, this 10-song CD of mostly instrumental covers recalls no less a figure than Arrington's childhood inspiration, the renowned saxophonist and bandleader Boots Randolph. Classic power-trio rock driven by the kind of fiery and blistering guitar flourishes that defines the genre is the order of the day on The Leftovers fine new CD, "Reheat and Serve." Alternately flashing the kind of licks a fan of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, or Stevie Ray Vaughan would drool over, veteran rocker D. Logan Foster leads a 3-piece band through a 9-song workout of blues fire and rock dynamics with drama and flair. With wife Cassandra Roxanne (Bass) and Bennie Bee (drums) proving a rock-solid and inventive rhythm section, classic blues rock gets a makeover on the Santana-inflected "Simple Woman" while the Southern chug of "Your Eyes Give You Away" are right out of the Lynyrd Skynyrd playbook. CD-opener, "Let's Do It Again" surges with a Hendrix-like fury as Foster's slashing chops cuts through the song like lightning bolts. Originally released in 1976, "Red Letter Day" by Tom Lucas is a CD packed with the truest form of American Rock. Lucas' lyrics deal with the never-ending political issues of our time and don't hold back on his sentiments. Close your eyes and listen to Lucas' vocals as they are pure, crisp, and simple, whereas you might even think you are hearing Neil Young. "Babylon Rising" is piano-driven with an energetic Blues/Rock tonality. The original album contained nine tracks, but the addition of a new track, "Stars In The Night," gives the listeners a taste of nice harmonies and moving beats. "New Life" is the third gospel reggae release from impressive writer/composer duo Errol and Kaye Leslie. Originally from Jamaica, but currently taking up residence in Florida, Errol and Kaye smoothly incorporate Caribbean reggae rhythms into their gospel songs for their music ministries. The result is twelve upbeat and rhythmic tracks about the importance of Jesus in our day to day existence and the necessity of putting one's life into God's hands. Errol and Kaye, combined with the backing vocalists, create some great vocal dynamics on this album. Errol has a great booming bass reggae vocal, and Kaye a strong alto more lenient to the gospel end of the sound. "New Life" features great production quality. It sounds very clean and makes you feel as though you are in a Caribbean tent revival. "Caribbean Gospel Medley" defines Caribbean gospel perfectly with an attention-getting beat, great vocal layering, and lyrics about redemption. The title track, "New Life," is an Elvis-esque southern gospel track with great booming doo-wop vocals from Errol, more great vocal layering, and a classic arrangement. Overall, "New Life" is an accomplishment, as it combines the fun, upbeat sounds of the Caribbean with serious and heartfelt gospel lyrics. If the fusion of reggae with gospel appeals to you, I strongly recommend that you check out Errol and Kaye Leslie.

Chris DeMarco's most recent self titled release, "Chris DeMarco-The 80's" is an album that re-invents the upbeat classic pop rock music of that era. DeMarco, a seasoned veteran of music who has performed with various well known artists, has decided to debut his works originally recorded in the 1980's. These catchy pop styles are splashed with light lyrics over striking guitar riffs while keyboards add a touch of pop orchestration. DeMarco's vocals are melodic and rich, exhibiting his polished, strong and distinct voice. Note the high harmonies on "The Same Old Way" and also on "One More Shot." They are undoubtedly a staple of '80's pop. Rock-hard drums streaming with solid fills and edgy guitar licks reach well beyond their roots on "The Mirror." If you like music that captures the essence of 80's pop/rock, "Chris DeMarco-The 80's" is a CD well worth listening to.

Stephen W. Duncan has ingeniously and eloquently mirrored the episodic events of the moon with his expressive and appropriately named album, "The Full Moons." Duncan has created an atmosphere of beautifully orchestrated compositions using various types of instrumentation with tones of classical and New Age finesse. Stunning and powerful, "Snow Moon," casts out a luscious melody highlighted by dazzling dynamics as the strings swell only to gently recede ever so softly. A bright and crisp piano cascades across the keys on "Flower Moon" while the Eastern tonality of various instruments gives way to a charming melody. Upbeat and lively, "Harvest Moon" impresses with country style with the banjo plucking away, while the percussion taps to a steady beat. The motif of Stephen W. Duncan's "The Full Moons" holds thought-provoking melodies with wonderful instrumentation of classical/New Age flair and would be a great addition to anyone who likes to hear and feel the sounds of tranquility.
